When Fred Dryer was starring in Hunter (1984-1991), about a tough, trigger-happy, macho cop, a nude physique photo appeared purporting to be from his early modeling days.
It looks like it's from Physique Pictorial or a similar gay-coded physique magazine. The guy looks sort of like Fred Dryer, and he has the same jarhead buzz cut.
There are some problems, though.
Fred Dryer was born in 1946, so he couldn't have posed for this photo any earlier than 1964.
1. There were no nude physique photos until the late 1960s, and then they were in color.
2. In the late 1960s, Dryer was in his 20s. This guy is at least 10 years too old.
3. Dryer had long hippie hair and a Castro Clone moustache.
But the guy is hot, whether or not he's actually a now-obscure tv star.

Could be one of those sold with "limited distribution", i.e. you can't send it in the mail, but you can send a (heavily coded) catalogue of photographs (but with only clothed, often costumed, sample photos). You have the private sector deliver them. And no one cares depict actual sex this way, though most physique models were strictly-top male prostitutes. (If you believe him, Bob Mizer had no idea AMG models were hustlers; he wanted role models boys could aspire to. If you believe him.)

Actually, Bob Mizer had a secret code which he used when he sold photos to regular customers. This usually included which forms of sexual activity the model would perform. The code also included personal traits such as ...dangerous, serious, untrustworthy, compliant etc. I used to have a copy of it, but it's long since disappeared. It was fun to read.
ReplyDeleteMany budding actors were involved in nude black and white photo shoots before they became well known eg. Burt Lancaster, Roddy McDowell, Tab Hunter, Yul Bryner to name but a few.
Is this photo Fred Dryer? I don't think so although Fred did/does have a very big penis. Invariably a big VPL in episodes of Hunter in the 80s. Apparently, he never wore underwear? It was the main reason I watched the show!!!
