Chris Redfield in Peril

While browsing through my tumblr feeds of BDSM art, I happened to notice a lot of pictures of someone named Chris Redfield, stern, muscular, very well hung, being menaced.

Often tied to some sort of milking machine.

Or captured by a tentacle-monster.

Or both.

Rarely any consensual sexual scenes.

I figured he must be a tv character, so I looked on IMDB, and found Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010), wtth Wentworth Miller as an ex-con who fights zombies along with his sister.  He doesn't appear in any of the three previous Resident Evil movies.

He originally appeared in the video game franchise Resident Evil (1996-), a member of a special police force fighting supernatural bogies.  Later he joins a paramilitary group to fight bio-terrorism.

That explains the monsters, but it doesn't explain why this rather obscure character is so popular.

Some fans think that Redfield is canonically gay.  He doesn't get a female love interest, and he's rescuing his sister, turning over the trope of rescuing the girlfriend.

  1. One of the more popular video game characters. It's always interesting to see which make characters get Rule 34'd. To my knowledge, there's:

    Mario and Luigi
Link and (just pretend he's a guy and not Zelda in drag) Sheik
Final Fantasy offers a few, starting with Sabin in 6.
Street Fighter gives us Ken and Ryu, and a few others depending on your taste.
Chrono Trigger doesn't have much gay porn of it, by virtue of Chrono and (spoiler from a 20-year-old game) Magus being the only human males in the party, and Magus is too old for Chrono while (spoiler again) Janus is WAY too young. Chrono Cross, however, I have seen Rule 34 of Serve and Korcha. And some of Karsh and ZOAH.
Just, Suikoden. The whole series is full of homoerotic moments which inspire Rule 34.
There is some Mortal Kombat Rule 34, not much gay Rule 34. At least the games are equal-opportunity objectifiers: Shirtless men, women who would be more comfortable in a strip club than an arena, and even bosses if you're into extra limbs or centaurs or dragons.

You know? Now that I think about it, there's probably gay with of any video game with human males. And even then, humanity is not required. Well, I think Lemeza, the protagonist of La-Mulana, has avoided it. (Then again, who would they pair him with? Cat Ball? Surprise Fish? Elder Xelpud?)

    1. Interesting list. I've seen a lot of BDSM art involving Link, but I didn't know who he was.

    2. Link's often paired with Ganon or Sheik, never mind that Sheik is Zelda.

Just be glad I didn't go into Sonic or Pokémon or FNAF. (I hope dead kids really do possess animatronic restaurant mascots and murder anyone who makes FNAF porn.)
